Alberto Giacometti Magazine Spread
Alberto Giacometti was a Swiss sculptor and painter who lived between the years of 1901 to 1966. He is most famous for his sculptures. One of my main goals for this publication was to create a professional looking magazine that happens to be covering a London issue pertaining to art. Another one of my goals is to possibly obtain new readers for the magazine who have an interest in art and art history. My style throughout this spread was based on the idea that readers pick up what they know and recognize. I wanted it to have a very classic look and feel to it, I did not want it to look like it was changing for the story.

This cover design draws directly from the intense red hues found in Giacometti’s self-portrait, using them as striking accents to highlight the theme of madness. The choice of red not only captures the emotional depth of the artist’s expression but also creates a vivid focal point that resonates throughout the design. Across the entire spread, a restrained approach to color and style maintains a cohesive and concise visual narrative, ensuring that the powerful red tones stand out without overwhelming the overall composition.
